Enhancing User Experience at Sodimac Chile and Colombia: A Focus on Wishlist Functionality

Introduction

Sodimac, being a prominent player in e-commerce for home goods in Latin America, aimed to enhance user experience by optimizing its wishlist feature. This case study focuses on how the UX design team transformed user interaction with wishlists on the website.

Challenge

The wishlist functionality is crucial for users who wish to save and organize products for future purchases. However, the previous version of Sodimac’s wishlist did not fully meet user expectations, impacting customer retention and satisfaction.

Design Approach

The UX design team adopted a user-centric approach to understand the specific needs of Colombian and Chilenian customers. They conducted interviews, surveys, and usability tests to gather valuable information on how users interacted with wishlists and what their expectations were.

 

Implemented Solutions

  • Intuitive Interface: The wishlist interface was redesigned to be more intuitive and user-friendly. Clear visual icons were added, and the process of adding and removing items was simplified.
  • Regional Customization: Colombian and Chilenian specific features were implemented, such as the ability to add locally popular products and receive recommendations based on regional trends.
  • Personalized Notifications: Customized notifications were introduced to inform users about price changes, product availability, and exclusive offers related to wishlist items.

Results

After implementing these improvements, Sodimac saw a significant increase in user retention and customer satisfaction. The conversion rate from wishlist to actual purchases also increased, demonstrating the positive impact of a user-centric approach in designing wishlist functionality.

Conclusion

This case study highlights the importance of understanding the specific needs and expectations of local users when designing key features on an e-commerce site. By prioritizing user experience, Sodimac not only improved wishlist functionality but also strengthened its position in the Colombian and Chilenian home goods e-commerce market.
